Parti Indpendantiste

The Parti indpendantiste was a provincial party Qubec, Canada, founded by Denis Monire in 1985. The party was established to promote the separation of Qubec from Canada, and was founded by Monire and others who believed that the Parti Qubcois was not taking a strong enough position in promoting the cause of Qubec independence. Monire had previously been interim leader of the Parti nationaliste du Qubec, a federal political party, following the resignation of the partys founder. Monire was defeated in the 1984 Canadian election that brought Brian Mulroney to power.
