Parker Strip, Arizona

Parker Strip is a census-designated place located in La Paz County, Arizona. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 3,302.

Geography

Parker Strip is located at 34°13'40" North, 114°10'56" West (34.227837, -114.182177). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 21.8 km² (8.4 mi²). 18.4 km² (7.1 mi²) of it is land and 3.4 km² (1.3 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 15.68% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 3,302 people, 1,589 households, and 953 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 179.6/km² (464.8/mi²). There are 4,925 housing units at an average density of 267.8/km² (693.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 92.58% White, 0.58% Black or African American, 2.00% Native American, 0.82% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 2.21% from other races, and 1.82% from two or more races. 9.06% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 1,589 households out of which 16.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.0% are married couples living together, 5.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 40.0% are non-families. 31.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.08 and the average family size is 2.57. In the CDP the population is spread out with 16.0% under the age of 18, 4.9% from 18 to 24, 22.5% from 25 to 44, 34.3% from 45 to 64, and 22.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 50 years. For every 100 females there are 110.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 110.7 males. The median income for a household in the CDP is $33,675, and the median income for a family is $38,139. Males have a median income of $34,924 versus $23,614 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $21,675. 15.9% of the population and 10.9% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 25.5% of those under the age of 18 and 14.8% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
