Palencia (Province)

Palencia is a province of northern Spain, in the northern part of the autonomous community of Castile and Len. It is bordered by the provinces of Len, Cantabria, Burgos, and Valladolid. Of the population of 176,125 (2002), 45% live in the capital, Palencia. There are 191 municipalities in the province, of which more than half are villages with fewer than 200 people.
