Palaic LanguagePalaic was one of the Anatolian languages, and as such a sister language of Hittite. It was probably spoken to the north of the Hittite core area, in the present north-central Turkey. It is only known from a handful of liturgical documents, written by Hittites employing the same cuneiform they used for Hittite. The language was most likely extinct by the 13th century BC. From what has survived, it emerges as a fairly typical Indo-European language. Among other things, it shows the same gender distinction as seen in Hittite, i.e. animate vs. inanimate.
