The parish is one of the smallest in area in the parish and the Madeira Islands. It is located about 3 km near Calheta and about 1 km from Faj da Ovelha down by a curvy road at the mountains. The main industry is agriculture. It is connected with a road linking Porto Moniz and Santana and Calheta and Funchal to the east. The Atlantic Ocean is to the west.
