Pal Do Mar

Pal do Mar is a parish in the district of Calheta in the Madeira Islands. The population in 2001 is 885, its density is 520.6/km and the area is 1.7 km/170 ha. The parish is one of the smallest in area in the parish and the Madeira Islands. It is located about 3 km near Calheta and about 1 km from Faj da Ovelha down by a curvy road at the mountains. The main industry is agriculture. It is connected with a road linking Porto Moniz and Santana and Calheta and Funchal to the east. The Atlantic Ocean is to the west. The mountains are to the north and northeast.
