OxybelesThe Oxybeles (Οξυβόλος, literally "bolt shooter") was a seige weapon used by the Ancient Greeks in the mid 4th century BC. Constructed out of wood, animal horn, and sinew, it resembled a large crossbow mounted on a tripod, and fired large wooden, metal-tipped bolts with much greater range, accuracy, and power than earlier weapons such as the gastrophetes bow.
