Oxford University Invariant Society

Invariant Society
is an association of undergraduates at
Oxford University
with an interest in
mathematics
. It arranges a programme of regular lectures on topics beyond the taught curriculum. The society takes its name from the mathematical concept of
invariance
. It was founded in
1936
to 'promote interest in all branches of Mathematics'. The first lecture was reputedly delivered by
G. H. Hardy
.
