Owen Marshall

Owen Marshall (Owen Marshall Jones) (born 1941) is a New Zealand short story writer and novelist. He was born in the North Island town of Te Kuiti, the third son of a Methodist minister, but grew up in the South Island. His younger years were spent in Blenheim and he attended high school in Timaru and university in Christchurch. Many critics rank Marshall among the finest, if not the finest, of New Zealands short story writers. This would place him in the same league as Janet Frame and Frank Sargeson.
