Ostrava-mosnov International AirportOstrava-Monov International Airport (IATA airport code OSR) is an airport that serves the city of Ostrava, in the Czech Republic, located 20km to the southwest of the city. Due to its distance from the city centre, there are no noise restrictions enforced on the airport. The runway at Ostrava-Monov is 3500m in length, and is at an altitude of 257m. It is the largest regional airport in the Czech Republic, acting as a point of entry to northern Moravia and the Czech part of Silesia. The city of Ostrava is a major economic and industrial centre for the area. Open 24 hours a day from June 1 to September 30, Ostrava-Monov is open between 5am and 9pm from October 1 to May 31. As well as being able to serve aircraft as large as an Antonov An-124 (the largest aeroplane ever mass produced), Ostrava-Monov's heliport allows it to serve helicopters, alongside fixed wing aircraft. In 1998, 93,775 passengers went through Ostrava-Monov, 2,228 tonnes of cargo were handled and there were 5,914 aircraft movements.
