Osoyoos, British Columbia

Osoyoos is a small town in the Okanagan Valley on British Columbia's southern border with Washington state. It boasts the title of having the only desert in Canada. Its terrain fits this image nicely, with sandy hills, tumbleweeds, rattlesnakes, and a hot, arid climate. In summertime, the Okanagan Valley is the hottest place in Canada. There is also a border crossing between Canada and the United States between Osoyoos and Oroville, Washington. The name Osoyoos means "narrowing of the waters" in the local Native American language.
