Oscarshall Oscarshall castle is located in the small fjord Frognerkilen on Bygdy in Oslo, Norway. The castle was built from 1847 to 1852 by the Danish architect Johan Henrik Nebelong for King Oscar I. Oscarshall was sold by King Carl IV to the Norwegian state in 1863, and has been at the disposal of Norwegian kings since. The building is considered one of the main neo-Gothic works in Norway. The architectural style is patterned on the English neo-Gothic castle, which was typical in Scandinavia in the mid-19th century. In addition to the main building, the property consists of a park that stretches down to the fjord, where an open pavilion is located. The interior was wholly constructed by Norwegian artists and artisans. After being restored in the 1990s, the castle opened to the public as a museum.
