Organizational Excellence Award

right The Organizational Excellence Award is a decoration of the United States Air Force and is the lowest ranking unit award. The decoration was first created in 1969 and is awarded to any Air Force unit which displays achievement or merit befitting unit recognition but not warranting the presentation of the Outstanding Unit Award. The determination between the two awards is made by local commanders who hold award authority for the Organizational Excellence Award. Additional awards of the Organizational Excellence Award are denoting on the ribbon by oak leaf clusters. For those units which are presented the decoration through combat operations or direct combat support, the valor device may also be authorized.
