Orchomenus (Town)
Orchomenus
is an ancient city of
Boeotia
in
Greece
, which was the setting for many early
Greek Myths
. First mentioned in the
Catalogue of Ships
section of
The Iliad
, it was the principal city of Boeotia and first to mint
coins
until the rise of
Thebes
. It was destroyed by the
Boeotian Confederacy
in
364 BC
, and has remained little more than a village since.
