Operation Skye

During World War 2, Operation Skye (Allies, 1944) was a major subplan of Fortitude North that created a fictional "British Fourth Army" that threatened an invasion of Norway. The British media cooperated with this effort by broadcasting fake football scores and even wedding announcements for the nonexistent troops. Seventeen German divisions were tied down by this effort.
