Operation Sea Dragon

American naval history records two operations dubbed Sea Dragon: 1. During the Korean war, Sea Dragon was a covert reconnaissance of the Yalu river estuary and its islands by a U.S./South Korean teams operating from fishing boats in April 1953. 2. During the Vietnam War, Sea Dragon was a series or naval operations beginning in 1967 to interdict sea lines of communications between North and South Vietnam and to destroy land targets with naval gunfire. The primary purpose of Sea Dragon forces was the interception and destruction of water borne logistic craft (WBLC), which ranged in size from large self propelled barges down to small junks and sampans. US Navy advisers were assigned to the Vietnamese Navy and, in late 1961, US Navy minesweepers assisted Vietnamese Navy (VNN) ships to carry out patrols near the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). Other American naval operations during the Vietnam War were: Operation Market Time, Operation Sealords Sea Dragon
