Operation Archway
was a large armed reconnaissance effort launched on
25 March
,
1945
by about 450 British
Special Air Service
troopers in support of the
Operation Plunder
crossing of the
Rhine
near
Wessel
. Paving the way for the main advance, the SAS jeeps went as far east as
Kiel
by
3 May
. The
Operation Keystone
team linked up with the Archway
British Commandos
in mid-April, 1945. Archway
