Ontology MediaOntology, according to new technological platforms, is a dictionary of related objects, classes and functions and communication between this elements. Contemporary ontology is based on the formal languages as well as Ontology Inference Layer (OIL). Tim Berners Lee pointed out that new semantic networks consist of three main layers: - Layer of medata: Resource Description Framework;
- Layer of schematic data;
- Layer of logic: Ontology Inference Layer;
The main constructs of an ontology model are concepts, instances, associations and axioms (logical rules). In the past, several representation languages were used to encode ontologies for access by software systems. Many of these languages can be seen in TopQuadrant's Tree of Knowledge Technologies. With the advent of Semantic Web, we now have W3C standard, web-native, XML-based languages for expressing ontology models supported by a growing number of vendors and tools. Ontologies communication using ontobrowsers, ontoeditors, Internet agents, knowledge generation modules and other formal languages for describing reality. New ontology media will be used for business communications, B2B, marketing communications, knowledge management, content management, and communication management. Ontology communications are a new direction and paradigm of development of network technologies. External Links http://ontoweb.aifb.uni-karlsruhe.de/ http://www.topquadrant.com/tq_ontology.htm
