Olov Lambatunga

Olov Lambatunga was archbishop of Uppsala, Sweden, 1198-1206. About Olov little is known. A couple of papal letters exist. One is from 1200, where the Pope declared Church estate free from government taxes and that clerics should be judged only by bishops and prelates, and not to the governement's courts and judges. This was a step to seperation between worldy and spiritual matters, a dogma that the Swedish church had not yet taken to itself. The second letter is one where the Pope demands Olov to dismiss the two bishops ordained by Olov's predecessor Petrus. Petrus had choosen three bishops without the proper heredity and had ordained two of them before he died. It is also known that Uppsala burnt in 1204, and that Olov sent a letter to the Pope wherin he explains that his pallium had been burnt and requested a new to be made. The request was granted.
