Olivia's Dollhouse Tea Room

Olivia's Dollhouse Tea Room is small chain of Victorian-themed party centers geared towards preadolescent girls. Jeanine and Tom Trikilis of Newhall, California founded the first Olivia's Dollhouse Tea Room, named after their daughter, in 1990. The idea was to capture the imaginations of their children and friends in a fairy tale-like setting adorned with antique style dolls and music boxes. Olivia's Dollhouse Tea Room is open only for appointments. A typical meeting consists of dress-up games -- including a fashion show -- and consumption of snacks, followed by the tea party itself. Lemonade is substituted for tea. All children leave the tea party with a photograph and souvenir from the toy chest, and the one whose parents are paying goes home with a porcelain doll. Olivia's Dollhouse Tea Room holds minor cult status with some older teens as well.
There are currently four locations in California and one in Las Vegas.
