Olivet Discourse

The Olivet discourse is a passage found in chapter 24 of the Gospel of Matthew and chapter 13 of the Gospel of Mark that prophesy the Second Coming of Jesus. They are some of the most debated parables in the Bible. The prophecies are:
  1. Jerusalem and the Temple will be destroyed;
  2. The Jews will be scattered among the nations "until the times of the Gentiles" are fulfilled;
  3. There will be an upheaval among the nations;
  4. Cosmic signs will be revealed;
  5. Jesus will return to set up His Kingdom.
It must be noted that Chapter 21 of the Gospel of Luke is not part of the Olivet discourse, as its setting is on the Temple Mount. See also: Christian eschatology.
