Oklahoma City Zoo And Botanical Gardens

The Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Gardens is a zoo located in the Oklahoma City Adventure Entertainment District in Northeast Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. It is 100 years old, and according to Passion-4-Zoos International, the oldest in the Southwest. It is one of the top zoos in the nation. It contains 110 acres (450,000 m²) and is home to more than 2,800 of the world's most exotic animals. It is located in Northeast Oklahoma City, Oklahoma near the intersection of Interstate 35 and Interstate 44. It can be accessed from Interstate 35 by 50th Street or from Interstate 44 by Martin Luther King Blvd. The zoo and the Oklahoma City Adventure Entertainment District are served by the Adventure Line Purple Trolly, see Purple Trolly Link. Surrounding the zoo is Lincoln Park, Northeast Lake and the Lincoln Park Golf Course. Other attractions adjacent to the zoo are the Omniplex - Science Museum, the National Softball Hall of Fame and Museum, and the Oklahoma State Firefighters Museum. Other Attractions in the Oklahoma City Adventure Entertainment District include: Remington Park Racetrack, National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, 45 Division Infantry Museum, Tinseltown-USA, and Coles Garden. Along with many exciting zoo exhibits the five major highlighted exhibits by the okczoo are as follows:
  • Cat Forest/Lion Overlook This exciting exhibit provides view into the lives of a variety of wild cats.
  • Great EscAPE View gorillas, orangutans, and chimpanzees closer than ever before.
  • Aquatics Exotic fish and other aquatic creatures abound in an array of colors, shapes, and sizes.
  • Butterfly Garden Learn about butterflies, their conservation needs and butterfly gardening.
  • Island Life View the diversity of life among island species.
