Obsession (Movie)

Obsession was Brian DePalma's homage to his biggest influence, Alfred Hitchcock. Released in 1976, and originally titled, 'Deja Vu,' it is a remake of Hitchcock's film Vertigo from a script by Paul Schrader. Film composer Bernard Herrmann received a posthumous Academy Award nomination for his score to the film. Herrmann also composed the music for Vertigo, but the two scores have little in common.

Story

New Orleans businessman Michael Courtland (portrayed by actor, Cliff Robertson) has his life shattered when his wife, Elizabeth (Genevive Bujold) and daughter, Amy, are tragically killed in a kidnapped attempt gone wrong. Years later, on a visit to Europe, he meets an Italian woman, Sandra Portinari (also portrayed by Bujold) who bears a striking resemblance to his lost wife.
