Nukezone

NukeZone is a wargame played on the Internet with a web browser. It is text based and a real-time strategy, to keep the balance in the game each player is given a certain number of turns every hour that they can use to perform actions. NukeZone started in 2001 as a school project by Swede Stefan Karlstrm (nick name: Guffy). It grew quickly, with thousands of members in 2002 and about 30 000 in 2004. Each round of NukeZone is about three months long, with game changes between every round. Each player get a "province" when they register for the game, they can then join clans of up to 20 members and fight other clans in the points or networth list, for individual provinces there is a province networth list and medals for things like most kills, most land etc. For those who wants some extra features there are gold memberships for sale, these features does not affect game play, just makes it more comfortable to play. Some NukeZone players who had disputes with the crew have made more or less clones of the game. These games has had, and for those active, have a member base with a majority of players from the NukeZone community. The first was Covasion (2003), later DefCon5 (2003) and Warrior Adventures (2004). None of these games have reached the same popularity as NukeZone. NukeZone's original slogan "Nuke the enemy before the enemy nukes you" was used until september 2003 when is was changed to "Nuke or Be Nuked!".
