Notre Dame (Disambiguation)

Notre Dame is French for Our Lady, referring to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Accordingly there are many churches named Notre Dame, of which the most famous is Notre Dame de Paris in Paris, France. Some others include: There are several US higher education institutions named Notre Dame: The novel Notre-Dame de Paris, by Victor Hugo (1831), is known in English as The Hunchback of Notre Dame and has been made into several movies and musicals. The most famous musical is simply called Notre-Dame de Paris. It was co-authored by Quebecois Luc Plamondon and Franco-Italian Richard Cocciante. Notre Dame Bay is a large bay near the mouth of the Exploits River in northern Newfoundland. Notre Dame (band) was a Swedish metal band. Notre Dame is pronounced "Not-re dahm" although sports broadcasters in the US correctly pronounce the University as "Nōter dāme."
