Noether Charge

In physics, a Noether charge is a physical quantity conserved as an effect of a continuous symmetry of the underlying system. See Noether's theorem. One theoretical use of the Noether charge is in caculating the entropy of stationary black holes. http://arxiv.org/abs/gr-qc/9503052
