Noel Brookes

Noel Brookes in August 1999
Noel Brookes (wrongly said to have disappeared 2002, Brighton) was a British bookseller. He ran a large and well-stocked second hand bookshop for thirty years at 12A, Queen's Road, Brighton. Despite his chaotic approach to stock-keeping, with books piled up in every corner, Noel knew exactly what he had in the shop at any one time. However, in the year 2002, the rent on his town centre shop doubled overnight, and he was forced to give up the shop. There seems to have been some confusion as to what happened when the shop closed, and Noel was said to have 'disappeared'. Stuart Northage, who travelled home with him most days from Brighton to London Road Station believes that he is still looking after his elderly mother and running his business by mail order from home (although on a more specialised basis)
