Noble Jones

Noble Wimberly Jones (1723January 9, 1805) was an American physician and statesman from Savannah, Georgia. He served as a Georgia delegate to the Continental Congress in 1781 and 1782. Noble was captured by the British when they capture Charleston, South Carolina in 1780 and held as a political prisoner in St. Augustine, Florida. When he was exchanged in 1781, his first available transportation took him to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Since he was already there, and had served in Georgia's Committee of Safety the early days of the Revolutionary War, Georgia named him as a delegate to the Congress. He returned to Savannah in 1782.
