Nizhnevartovsk

Nizhnevartovsk (Нижнева́ртовск), is a town in Khantia-Mansia, Russia. It is situated on the river Ob. It has had town status since 1972. Population 234,800 (2001). Nizhnevartovsk is the center of the great West Siberian oil-producing region and one of the richest cities in the country. Its airport is the 15th busiest in Russia, well ahead of those in many much larger cities.
