Nick Finck

Nick Finck is a web craftsman, lecture, instructor, and author. He is most commonly known for his role as founder and publisher of Digital Web Magazine in 1996. He is also known for coining the term web craftsman which is used to describe a web professional who plays a role in various aspects of the field. In addition he is also widely known for supporting the adoption of liquid web design, a technique used in web design that gives pages the ability to flex based on the size of the web browser

Professional background

In 1994 Nick established his web consultancy, Designs by Nick Finck, based out of Portland, Oregon. Since then he has moved to Seattle, Washington where he continues his business and is the Pacific Northwest Ambassador for UXnet. Nick was a founding member of the Web Standards Project (WaSP), and the Asilomar Institute for Information Architecture (AIfIA).

Editorial background

In addition to being the Publisher of Digital Web Magazine, Nick Finck is also known for being the former producer for A List Apart, a developer for Boxes and Arrows, and author for numerous articles for various web publications including Web Review, A List Apart, Design is Kinky, Independents Day, Scene 360, and co-author of the Web Standards FAQ.
