Nick Bolkus

Nick Bolkus (born 17 July 1950), has been an Australian Labor Party member of the Australian Senate since July 1981, representing the state of South Australia. He was born in Adelaide, South Australia, and was educated at the Adelaide University. He was a lawyer and research officer before entering politics. Bolkus was Minister for Consumer Affairs and Minister Assisting the Treasurer for Prices (1988-1990), Minister for Administrative Services (1990-1993), and Minister for Immigration and Ethnic Affairs Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for Multicultural Affairs (1993-1996). Bolkus was a member of the Opposition Shadow Ministry from March 1996 to November 2001. He was Shadow Attorney-General and Shadow Minister for Justice (1996-1998) and Shadow Minister for Environment and Heritage (1998-2001).
