Nicepop

NicePop is a term coined to define a genre of music, whose common root is pop, but can actually refer to a wide array of subgenres. It comprises bands that are usually considered a softer, more commercial, version of a particular genre that is popular at the time. Followers of said genre will outcast the band (who will however have large following), claiming it is not real "MUSIC GENRE". Examples of this would be Avril Lavigne (Not real punk) or some more popular hip-hop music on MTV that the real fans of hip-hop will not consider to be real hip-hop (Or the entire NuMetal scene). This does not include bands that are considered to be sell-outs (although their later work could be considered NicePop) and the animosity towards NicePop bands comes not because they are per se bad, but because they claim to be part of a movement that their are not. If the claim was not made, than they would probably be considered to be nice pop music by the followers of said genre, hence the term "NicePop"
