Newfield, New JerseyNewfield is a borough located in Gloucester County, New Jersey. As of the 2000 census, the borough had a total population of 1,616. Geography Newfield is located at 39°32'56" North, 75°1'19" West (39.548986, -75.022057). According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 4.4 km² (1.7 mi²). 4.4 km² (1.7 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water. Newfield borders Franklin Township and Cumberland County. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 1,616 people, 596 households, and 470 families residing in the borough. The population density is 367.0/km² (951.1/mi²). There are 620 housing units at an average density of 140.8/km² (364.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the borough is 95.11% White, 1.30% African American, 0.68% Native American, 0.56% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 1.05% from other races, and 1.30% from two or more races. 3.84% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 596 households out of which 33.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.9% are married couples living together, 9.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 21.0% are non-families. 17.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.71 and the average family size is 3.04. In the borough the population is spread out with 24.4% under the age of 18, 7.2% from 18 to 24, 28.9% from 25 to 44, 25.3% from 45 to 64, and 14.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 39 years. For every 100 females there are 85.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 83.8 males. The median income for a household in the borough is $51,875, and the median income for a family is $59,934. Males have a median income of $39,926 versus $28,750 for females. The per capita income for the borough is $21,063. 6.5% of the population and 5.5% of families are below the poverty line.
