The New Zealand Prostitutes' Collective (NZPC) is a New Zealand-based organisation that supports the rights of sex workers and educates prostitutes about minimizing the risks of the job. It was founded in 1988. On 25 June 2003 the collective celebrated the so-called 'legalisation' of prostitution in New Zealand. While prostitution itself had never been illegal, the bill repealed existing laws against soliciting, brothel-keeping, and living off the earnings of prostitution. These laws had resulted in prostitution existing in a semi-legal limbo, with brothels masquerading as escort agencies and massage parlours, and prostitutes advertising unspecified personal services.
