New York Americans
The
New York Americans
were a professional
ice hockey
team that played in
New York City
in the
National Hockey League
. The team played as the New York Americans from
1925
to
1941
, but played their last season
1941
-
1942
as the
Brooklyn Americans
. They never played in
Brooklyn, New York
, instead the name was taken so
Brooklynites
could identify with the Americans instead of the
New York Rangers
. The idea failed, and the team folded in 1942.
