Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 41.9 km² (16.2 mi²). 41.8 km² (16.1 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.31% water. Demographics As of the census2 of 2000, there are 9,083 people, 2,700 households, and 2,200 families residing in the township. The population density is 217.3/km² (562.9/mi²). There are 2,831 housing units at an average density of 67.7/km² (175.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 84.91% White, 3.67% African American, 0.41% Native American, 1.30% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 8.07% from other races, and 1.61% from two or more races. 22.73% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 2,700 households out of which 46.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 70.6% are married couples living together, 6.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 18.5% are non-families. 14.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 4.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.16 and the average family size is 3.45. In the township the population is spread out with 30.7% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 34.1% from 25 to 44, 19.7% from 45 to 64, and 7.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 119.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 121.8 males. The median income for a household in the township is $75,307, and the median income for a family is $89,812. Males have a median income of $54,524 versus $32,792 for females. The per capita income for the township is $30,364. 5.7% of the population and 0.8% of families are below the poverty line.
