Nevado del Sajama is a stratovolcano in Bolivia, and it is also the highest peak in the country. It lies some 10-15 miles from the border with Chile. The structure of the peak is complex, with lava domes of andesitic and rhyodactic composition overlain by an andesitic stratovolcano. The date of the most recent eruption is uncertain, although Holocene activity is assigned to the volcano by many.
