Netrek

Netrek is a multiplayer real-time internet strategy game for up to 16 players. The goal of the game is to capture all the opposing team's planets. The game is loosely set in the Star Trek universe. Players can belong to one of four teams: The Federation, Romulans, Klingons, and Orions. Netrek combines "twitch" style reflexive dogfighting with extensive team play and strategy. There is also an online comic titled NeTrek; however, this comic has little or nothing to do with the game or the Star Trek universe. It seems the author titled his comic before he found out about the game and made an honest mistake. An April Fools' Day guest comic by a student at UC Berkely did a fine job of lampooning the misunderstanding.
