Neisseria

Neisseria is a genus of bacteria, included among the proteobacteria, a large group of gram-negative forms. It includes the species N. gonorrhoeae, which causes the disease gonorrhoea, and N. meningitidis, one of the most common causes of bacterial meningitis.
