National Nine News

National Nine News is the name of the news bulletins produced by the Nine Network. It is used on all the Nine Network's metropolitian stations in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane, along with its Darwin station (even though the station broadcasts on channel 8). The main bulletin airs each night at 6pm, and is followed by A Current Affair. They are also broadcast on WIN Television stations in most states at 6.30pm (delayed) except for:
  • Tasmania (WIN are the only Nine affilate in the state, and produces two bulletins, an 6pm local news bulletin, and an 6.30pm national news bulletin)
  • Western Australia (due to a dispute with the owner of the Perth affilate, Sunraysia Television. Ten's 5pm bulletin is aired instead).
  • Northern Territory (no WIN-owned television station in the state)
National Nine News's 6pm bulletin is not seen on NBN Television in Northern New South Wales, as the station produces its own news bulletins. The brand is also used for its 11am and 4.30pm bulletins, which are aired on all metropolitian stations, and in Darwin. The brand isn't used for its late night broadcasts, they are known as Nightline. There are a few differences between metro and regional stations:
  • WIN airs the 11am and 4.30pm bulletins, but rarely shows Nightline, replacing it with a repeat of their 6pm local news.
  • NBN doesn't air the 11am bulletin, its telecasts the 4.30pm bulletin with its own intro from Newcastle, and replaces the last segment with it's own weather forcast and preview of their 6pm bulletin, and airs Nightline.
