National Memorial

In the United States, National Memorial is a designation for a protected area that is commemorative of an historic person or episode. National memorials are Congressionally-granted designations and are part of the U.S National Park Service. The memorial need not be located on a site related to the subject. Many, but not all U.S. National Memorials are administered by the U.S. National Park Service. Some have administration devolved to state park systems. Some typical examples: See List of U.S. national parks for the full list.
