National Association Of Local Government Officers

The National Association of Local Government Officers (NALGO) was a British trade union representing mostly local government workers. It was founded in 1905 from various local unions, the most important being the Liverpool Government Officers Guild. In 1963 it amalgamated with the British Gas Staff Association. NALGO merged with the National Union of Public Employees and the Confederation of Health Service Employees in 1993 to form UNISON.
