Nashville Star

Nashville Star is a television program broadcast on the USA Network. It is similar to American Idol, in that performers must impress both celebrity judges and the public via call-in votes. Unlike American Idol, however, the performances are limited to country music, and the compositions the competitors sing must be their own original work. The first winner of Nasvhille Star was Buddy Jewell, who, on the strength of his win, saw his album Buddy Jewell earn him a gold album. In 2004, the second winner was 33-year-old Brad Cotter, from Auburn, Alabama.
