Nanao (七尾市; -shi) is a city located in Ishikawa, Japan. As of 2003, the city has an estimated population of 46,743 and the density of 324.67 persons per km². The total area is 143.97 km². The city was founded on July 20, 1939. It is situated in the middle of Noto Peninsula and was the ancient capital of Noto Province. It has several popular onsen such as Wakura Onsen, which is regarded as one of the most high-grade onsen in Japan.
