. Chomin studied in

as part of the
Iwakura mission
. He translated some of the writings of
Jean Jacques Rousseau
into
Japanese
, as well as
Eugne Vron
's
L'sthtique
. He coined the term
Minpon shugi
(民本手技), "
democracy
".
