Nagakura Shinpachi

Nagakura Shinpachi (永倉 新八 Nagakura Shinpachi) was the captain of the 2nd troop of the Shinsengumi. After Okita Sōji became sick, he occasionally lead the command of both the second and first units. Along with Okita and Harada Sanosuke, he was involved in the Ikeda affair. Afterwards, Nagakura wrote a book concerning the history of the Shinsengumi titled A Full Account of the Shinsengumi (Shinsengumi tenmatsu ki).
