Munch (Bdsm)

A munch is a low-pressure gathering for people involved in, or interested in, BDSM, usually at a restaurant. In the UK, the venue is usually a pub, and people are free to arrive and leave within the specified hours. The purpose is socializing. Unlike a play party, a munch is meant to be a casual affair, without dominant/submissive roles, fetish attire or play. These are especially suited for novices who may feel intimidated by play events. Although some people meet partners at a munch, it is considered extremely bad form to hit on women, single or otherwise, at a munch. However, it is a good way to make friends within the BDSM scene.
A munch is a social event in which people from the BDSM scene meet for talking and discussion. This is an open event, for people interested in the lifestyle to meet in a non-threatening environment to learn more about it. They are generally held in a restaurant or bar where the participants can sit, mingle, and --munch-- on snacks or meals. Munches, being in a public place MIGHT have some of the more basic classes (like BDSM 101 or a variant) but usually is simply for meet and greet.
