Multiple Comparisons

In statistics, the multiple comparisons problem tests null hypotheses stating that the averages of several disjoint populations are equal to each other. Typically one behaves as if the standard deviations of the several populations are equal to each other and the populations are normally distributed unless the data give evidence to the contrary. It is one of many problems in applied statistics in which the usual test is an F-test. This problem is a special case of the analysis of variance. Other methods include:
