Multilateral Force

The Multilateral Force (MLF) was a Cold War proposal first introduced in 1960. It was based on the concept of giving the smaller NATO countries, particularly Germany, a greater role in planning their own defense, which coincidently would dissuade them from wanting to be independent nuclear powers.
