Motor Aceright Motor Ace is an Australian alternative rock band. Their members are Patrick Robertson, Damian Birchall Costin, Matt Balfe and Dave Ong. The band began recording their debut release during April of 1999. On it they worked with producer Paul Mechercher of You Am I, Cruel Sea fame. The eventual tracklisting of their self titled release included: Chairman of the Board, Chromakey, Criminal Past, Lowrider and Fluke. Other songs, American Shoes and Siamese, were also considered. These were left out after the band decided they wanted to make a straight up rock EP. Triple J gave the band heavy airplay, assisting the band on their touring schedule. To date, they have released 2 studio albums. Their debut album, Five Star Laundry debuted at #4 on the Australian ARIAnet albums chart in 2001. They released a few singles/videos from this album such as "Hey Driver", "Death Defy", "Five Star Laundry" and "American Shoes". Some of them charted in the top 100 of the ARIAnet singles chart, while they gained popularity on Triple J. Their next album, released in 2002 gained even more success, debuting at #1 that year. The two lead singles ("Carry On" and "Keeping Secrets") even reached the top 30 in the singles chart, with the first reaching the top 20. A third single, "Pieces" also reached the top 100. As of 2004, they are working on a third album. Discography External links
