Mosvar BarayevMosvar Barayev(also spelled Baraev) -Born in 1979 in the Chechen city of Argun. -Nephew of famous Chechen warlord Arbi Barayev. -Died while leading Chechen Terrorists in the attack on the Moscow Theater in 2002 -Leader of the Special Purpose Islamic Brigade(SPIR) after his uncles death until his own death. Mosvar followed closely in his uncles footsteps, although it is reported he was more committed to Islam than his uncle. He moved near his uncle at the Chechen town of Alkhan-Kala, which was Arbi Barayev's base of operations for his fighters and his criminal enterprise. Supposedly Arbi Barayev set up training camps near the town to train fighters. While Arbi's dedication to the "Chechen cause" has been frequently questioned, it is believed he cared more about money than religion or freedom for Chechnya. Mosvar is generally believed to have been more committed to Wahhabi Islam. With his uncles death in 2001 Mosvar took over control of his uncles group, the Special Purpose Islamic Regiment. The SPIR was originally founded by Arbi Barayev as a tool of his criminal enterprise which thrived after the first Chechen War ended in 1996. It is based on Wahhabi Islam but its original founding on that ideal by Arbi is believed to have been just a tool for Arbi to recruit fighters, but with Mosvar taking control it became more dedicated to the Chechen war. The SPIR has close connections with the other two main Islamic-based Terror Groups in Chechnya, the Riyadus-Salikhin Reconnaissance and Staotage Battalion of Chechen Martyrs (frequently referred to as Riyadus-Salikhan or Riyadus al-Salikhan) and the Islamic International Brigade (IIB, also calld the Islamic International Peacekeeping Brigade, IIPB). Both of those groups were founded by Shamil Basayev. Under Mosvar's leadership the SPIR took part in the Moscow Theater attack in 2002, in conjunction with the Riyadus-Salikhan and the IIB. Mosvar was the field commander for all the Chechen terrorists in that attack. Mosvar died during the siege when the Russians stormed the theater.
